Old School Friends

A few weeks ago I got an email inquiry from an old school friend of mine. And, by “Old School” I really mean it because we actually went to elementary school together! I was so happy to hear from Beri and excited to have the opportunity to do a session with her two week old daughter, Dyllan (LOVE that name for a girl) and her two year old daughter Payton.  The first person I saw when I arrived at their home was a bouncing toddler who was the spitting image of the Coppertone Baby. With her mega blond piggies, her bright blue eyes and the adorable blue dress she was wearing, I totally melted. I thought “oh my gosh, this is going to be so cute and fun to take pictures with that cute little girl”. And then … Payton took one good look at me and ran away crying. Now … for everyone who knows me, they know how much I love kids and that I take pride in being able to make buddies with my junior clients. So, I knew that I was going to have to really channel the Super Nanny on this one. I colored with her, sang songs and even tried putting on her television show myself to let her know we were on the same team. But, to my dismay, sweet little Payton just wasn’t having any of it. So, I decided to concentrate on Dyllan and get some great shots of her while Beri hung out with Payton in an entirely different room far, far away from me. Don’t worry, the story is not over yet…

Dyllan was such an adorable little baby and I had a ball taking pictures of her. She seriously rocked the shoot! Look at this little face:

We wanted to do a little pop of color and Beri found this adorable headband…I love the black lace with hot pink flower. So sweet and sassy!

… and so my story ends here with this picture of Payton and her darling little smile. That’s right, she warmed up to me, although, she made sure it was only for a minute or two Hey, I’ll take it!
