Last Tuesday I took some newborn/family pictures of the Crossen Family in my studio and I think I laughed for most of the time. Little Case was 4 weeks exactly and his big brother, Cole, was 22 months old. Although little Case was so precious, Cole was definitely not going to let him get all of the attention. Cole is hilarious and to watch his parents interact with him was so great! They were fun, kick back, patient and just PERFECT! They let him do his thing, which I think is sooo important and then they scooped him up for a portrait. Well, it was almost like that. I actually had to start bribing him with “candy”, or, his favorite gummies. He would totally sit there as long as I had a piece of candy in my hand and ready to hand over. Now, working with kids under the age of 3 is generally difficult when you have something specific in mind, like a “traditional” family portrait. They don’t want to sit and smile for you. My style is geared towards non-traditional style portraits but I will almost always do at least one traditional portrait because it’s good to have that one classic shot. Well, I think this might be my new fave. I seriously cannot stop laughing when I look at this picture. It’s such a great shot, the money shot of the family, but Cole has a little souvenir showing in his smile. This is why I LOVE taking pictures of this age. They are so free, fun, silly and just show it as they feel it. And, YES, I would totally blow this up as a 20×30 and put it over my couch because it is so perfectly perfect for the age

It is now little Case’s time to shine! He was so sweet and couldn’t be a more mellow baby. We were really playing around with him and he took it all like a true champ. He is such a little love! Seriously, just look at him.
I must be in a weird mood tonight, but, I love this one. Newborns have the sweetest cry. (well, unless they are like my own Reese, of course) They are so tiny and their cries are also so tiny. Those sweet cries don’t last long. Look at his little pout.

Loving rough housing…so sweet!
